Foreword by the Head of the Institute

Prof. Dr.-Ing.
Bernd-Arno Behrens

Modern manufacturing techniques, innovative processes, cross-process AI and simulation approaches, and the pursuit of future-oriented solutions characterize the landscape of manufacturing companies. As a result of digitalization and economic and ecological developments, new market requirements are constantly emerging, requiring existing business concepts to be realigned. The latest developments in the field of forming technology will be presented at the 25th Forming Technology Colloquium Hannover (UKH) on March 18 and 19, 2026.

The UKH is attended by a large group of participants from industry and research. This year, the event will focus on the topics of the Collaborative Research Center 1153 – “Process Chain for the Production of Hybrid High-Performance Components through Tailored Forming” on Wednesday, March 18, and the lecture series “Innovations in Forming Technology” on Thursday, March 19.

On Wednesday, we will first present three exciting lectures providing insight into the innovations from 10 years of basic research on the forming of hybrid solid components. We will then demonstrate the great potential of the technologies developed through live experiments and a poster session.

On Thursday, there will be interesting specialist presentations on the following topics:

  • Innovative processes, systems, and materials in forming technology
  • Design, layout, and optimization of processes
  • Artificial intelligence in forming technology manufacturing
  • Advances in numerical simulation
  • Innovative manufacturing of formed components

I would be delighted to welcome you to the 25th Hannover Forming Technology Colloquium at the Hannover Production Technology Center (PZH) on March 18 and 19, 2026.
