Foreword by the Head of the Institute

Prof. Dr.-Ing.
Bernd-Arno Behrens

Modern production techniques, innovative processes and the pursuit of future-oriented solutions characterise the image of manufacturing companies. As a result of digitisation, new market requirements are emerging under the name of Industry 4.0, on the basis of which existing corporate concepts must be realigned. During the 23rd forming technologies colloquium (UKH) on the 4th and 5th of March 2020, the current developments in the field of forming technology will be presented.

The colloquium, which takes place every three years, is attended by a large number of participants from industry and research. The event days are thematically divided into the areas of solid forming on Wednesdays and sheet metal forming on Thursdays.

The following topics will be covered in the lectures

  • Innovative processes and equipment for forming technology
  • Design, layout and optimisation of processes
  • Production of high-performance components from multi-material systems
